About the Manga

• Plot
  • Oh no, Ruru is sick but even worse, Magu catches her cold and when he sneezes he shoots big fuck off laser beams! To stop him, Providential Uneras shrinks her, Ren, and Napu into a pill capsule and throws them into his mouth where they fight a horde of dark magus which fuse into a giant one. Ruru gives him Natto which makes him healthy again and they escape. Next, Magu, Napu, and even some of the humans learn about Halloween. Uneras gives them all costumes and Kyo gets super into it, creating a giant paper mache local loch-ness monster. Later, Napu has become obsessed with cooking and gathering ingredients so his hermit crabs go to gather materials for him. The fish they got is stolen by Izumi’s pigeon. Magu sees them while walking BS the puppy, stops the pigeon, eats the fish, and gives the pigeon his magic sword for Izumi. Uneras gives the crabs a really good fishing lure which Ruru trades to Napu for a portable stove which he loves. Everyone is getting fat so to work it off they go on Izumi’s Ninja Warrior course. Magu loses weight after shooting a laser, which upsets him cuz he liked his girth, and Ruru realizes that she gained weight cuz she got taller. Magu, Uneras, and Napu go for a night on the town where Magu and Uneras talk while Napu gets wasted.

  • Ren takes Ruru on a date to the mall and everything goes wrong but actually… it kind of went right, didn’t it? After discovering that he can buy ingredients with money, Napu becomes obsessed with cash and develops a gambling addiction until he loses so bad that he just goes back to working. It’s Christmas time and Ruru’s mom is coming over from her far away job so everyone works together to get the house ready for her but unfortunately it snows too much and the trains stopped. She’s devastated until Magu slaps her, demands that she stop being so selfless, and uses his power to destroy the weather, melting the snow. Ruru and her mom are able to reunite and it’s very cute. Soon it’s the new year festival and Magu once again learns about human culture, demanding sacrifice but no one does it. Izumi meanwhile struggles with his own inadequacy during the new year tradition of throwing beans to cast out demons, so Ruru has him fight magu in a bean throwing competition until he realizes that Magu isn’t really that bad. He enrolls in middle school to keep watch over him even though he’s 16

  • Everyone is getting depressed all of a sudden and no one knows why until they discover a little chaos god named Zonze of Despair who’s a lil sea urchin that’s depressed and makes people let their negative thoughts get ahold of them. However Yuika is unaffected cuz she has no inner life and is exactly who she is at all times, so becomes friends with Zonze. It’s Valentines day and Ren is desperate to make a good impression on Ruru so Uneras gives him magical chocolates with love potion inside. He angrily throws it away but Napu finds it and turns it into pudding, making all the girls love him and kick Ren out. But it turns out that they wanted to kick him out cuz they were making valentine brownies for him aw. Kyo is extremely excited because a new monster has been spotted in the ocean. It turns out to be another chaos god named GuLa, the Adamantine who’s a lil crab that can make his claw look like a big ol monster. Kyo adopts him it’s cute. All the gods share a hotpot together and discuss that there must be someone freeing these new lil guys. Their worries are confirmed when, after winning a trip to a ski resort, that person appears, a boy who is his own chaos god, Muscar of Fate.

Where it did worse

• Art is still really rough at times
• I still don't know what the point of the series is
• Since it wants to use all the characters it feels things are dragged out it's an issue op has
• I kinda wish there was more to the snow storm arc besides magu just fixes it like we know he can just solve any problem
• The series really needs to commit to multi chapter arcs it makes binge reading kind of hard that everything is reset in every chapter
• The muscat plot is a good idea but man it needed more hints and refinement like maybe he should have been a kid at school and not had the twist in his first chapter

What it did better

• Sick magu is adorable
• Sick magu was also well structured as a way to make all the protags feel like they mattered which is a struggle in a series like this
• Overall the author does a good job juggling the cast
• I appreciate it building on continuity like the aword
• I'm a sucker for b cast adventure episodes like the hermit crab one
• The visual gags like summo wrestling and the sword have really improved
• I think it really found it's groove of just being fun adventures with no real main plot
• You can really see some good growth from magu

Misc Thoughts

• Did you notice the gods all have different shaped boxes magu is round, nap is cloud, unerus is diamond
• The author is right naputa is the best character
• I think the Xmas arc was planned as an ending at first
• It's so fitting the first real arc is if mom will make it home for Xmas in time
• Trying to think what other manga really features someone's parents
• Would magu and power be friends

How happy would magu-chan be to destroy these chapters

• Very happy I enjoyed this a lot more than the first 2 volumes
