  • Takaki Tsuyoshi タカキ ツヨシ(たかき つよし)

CHARACTERS

  • Azuma Jirou 我妻 弍郎(あづま じろう)
    • Think of the “A” and “zuma” as two different pieces so you can avoid pronouncing it like “aZUma”
    • Azuma twitten as…”self-wife….” I don’t think that’s significant?
    • “Jirou” is “second guy,” which I don’t think is significant? Or maybe it is?
  • Kishimojin Ichika 鬼子母神 一華(きしもじん いちか)
    • Kishimojin is literally written as “demon child mother god”
    • “Ichika” written as “a single petal”
  • Shiba Ryousuke 司場 涼介(しば りょうすけ)
    • The “u” in “suke” is pretty much always a whispered vowel, so think of this as “Ryous’ke”
    • “Shiba” written as “the director’s place” and Ryousuke is “refreshing insertion,” which I find highly erotic
  • Rago
    • Very close in pronunciation to the Spanish word “lago”
  • Kirihara Reiji 桐原 零司(きりはら れいじ)
    • Don’t think the kanji usage is especially significant

  • Usami Hana 宇佐美 花(うさみ はな)
    • “Usami” is written with the characters for “heavenly” + “assistant” + “beauty”

OTHER

  • Utsusemi Technique
    • “Utsusemi” is the word for a discarded cicada shell….also has a double meaning as something like one’s “mortal coil” ….the ghost-bug Pokemon Shedinja is based on this double meaning
  • Kawarimi Technique
    • “Lightness of foot”
  • Mononoke 物の怪
    • “Mono-no-ke.” All syllables pronounced flatly

Meaning is super vague and mysterious….the “mono” just means “thing,” and the “ke” is spelled with the character for suspicious/ghost, but getting an irregular reading so that it’s the same as beast/animal (it most often gets the reading “kai,” as in “kaijuu” and “kaidan”...you know, from Yatsuba-senpai no Kaidan?)
