v0.17.1 Game Status: Educational Content (Patreon)

Hey all, it's mid-month update time!

This update includes a number of new scenes, with the Seeder plotlines getting more sexually charged, and the Harian civilians plotline reaching its finale with some full-blown smut. This scene isn't a final goodbye to your sponsored athletes though, as there will be more scenes that involve 'finishing' a star system, and of course there will be epilogues coming down the line.

Previously I said that I would be moving to the new factions for the second half of the month, but I am going to push that back a bit to work in one important bit of behind-the-scenes functionality. In Carnal Coup, virtually all scenes were replayable, which was easy to do as almost no CC scenes involved making important choices. In Voyages however many scenes have choices, costs, rewards, and so on which means I can't simply allow them to be replayed without accounting for all of those. The couple of 'flashback' entries I've added so far have been basically implemented by entirely duplicating the scenes but with any gameplay impacts edited out, which is a pretty messy way of doing things.

I don't want CV to be a game where you need to keep a hundred save files on hand to replay your favorite scenes with though, and now that plotlines are getting into their more action-packed stages there's bound to be more scenes that people want to replay. Therefore it's come time for me to set up a 'replay mode' system where scenes can be replayed without concerns of modifying the timeline or getting infinite rewards or the like. At a minimum I'll be wanting to apply this to any fully sexual scenes, but I may expand this to include others as well. I don't believe this will take up the rest of the month, but as it is a shorter cycle my writing time before the next release will probably be limited.
