Evening all, it's time for the State of the Game! And yes, the free release of v0.53.1 is now up on the blog, as usual! Generally, the state of the game is pretty good. As hoped there are no outstanding content items waiting to be completed or added, and to my knowledge there are no major gamebreaking bugs. That doesn't mean the game is perfect though, and so my plan is to spend this entire month on testing, editing, and QoL improvements. This month is going to be a little different in other ways though, and though I've said most of it before, I feel like it's good to do a review of what to expect from the rest of the project. In short:

  • There will probably not be a mid-month release this month. "Fixed a lot of typos" isn't really a release worth you all spending your time downloading and checking out, or really worth my time doing a build & release cycle for. It's time better spent doing more testing, and unless I find some major bug or other issue that needs addressing my plan is to just work through the month. If something does come up that qualifies for an update, I'll let you all know.
  • v1.0.0 will be released for free at the start of August as usual. However, v1.0.1 and any further updates will not be getting a free release - this month is for patrons only. There's also a good chance I won't be doing further WebGL releases for future versions. It's always been a bit of an unreliable, buggy mess, and I mostly kept putting them up as a quick 'free trial' for people who'd rather not download a game they haven't played. If there is actually a large patron demand for a WebGL release, feel free to let me know.
  • This is the last month in which the current tier rewards will be accurate or valid. I will be keeping the Patreon running into August and beyond, but in more of a 'tip to support' model. I'll probably make another post near the end of the month to confirm exactly what can be expected from what tier, but the safe bet is: any historical content available to patrons will continue to be available for patrons, there will be no new content (releases, polls, art, etc). When/if the time comes to pick things back up again for another project, there will probably be a significant tier overhaul.
  • I am still planning to do a storefront release once the Patreon version is complete. I had been roughly aiming for sometime in August, but some things on the 'business' side of things have taken longer to set up than I was expecting, and that will probably be pushed back a bit. I'll certainly keep you all updated when I have anything approximating a release date.

And I think that about covers all of the major bulletpoints. I don't have much to promise specifically for this month, other than that there has been one last thing sitting on my to-do list for a while, which is to make the Gallery something that is unlocked via play and not just by cheat code. For the most part though my plan is mostly just to fix things as they come up, and again, if anyone knows of any bugs or other issues in the game, now would be a great time to file bug reports. I'll keep you all updated on how things are going as the month goes, and there is one last HD art pack update to come, but until then, in summary:

June Accomplishments:

  • 2 Text scenes
  • 1 new CG from artist Suki!
  • Several QoL improvements and a Gallery re-org
  • ...A game!

July Forecast:

  • A game with no bugs!

Thanks again for all your support so far, and I hope you're willing to stick around to see the project to completion!
