We couldn't make you wait until now to listen to our February bonus (part two of our interview with Janelle Shane), so we released that back in January

As an extra bonus we wanted to share the updated thank you video that new patrons get when they join Lingthusiasm. We say 'new' but we shot this in November 2018 when Gretchen was in Australia (you may notice that Lauren is rather pregnant!). It's thanks to you that we now have Claire on board as senior producer and ling-ministrator to help us dust off projects like this that got away from us in 2019 (the year of the book and the baby).

If you want more linguistics facts but you've worked your way through the Lingthusiasm back catalogue, the Lingthusiasm Discord server is there for patrons at the Ling-thusiast tier and above.

Thank you for supporting Lingthusiasm on Patreon!

With your powers combined, we were able to catch up in person! So as a bonus thank you for supporting Lingthusiasm on Patreon, we share some of our favourite linguistics facts. Lauren discusses homonyms and Gretchen makes the case for bringing obscure anatomical words into the mainstream. Here are some supporting links: Etymonline entry for 'palp': https://www.etymonline.com/word/palp#etymonline_v_35685 Etymonline entry for 'flower': https://www.etymonline.com/word/flower#etymonline_v_46831 Etymonline entry for 'flour': https://www.etymonline.com/word/flour#etymonline_v_44204

Fun video! The outro music had words, which either it doesn't on the podcast or I somehow never detected. What's the song?

lingthusiasm

The song is called Ancient City, and we've put more information about it and the group on our website here! https://lingthusiasm.com/ancientcity

I didn't know about flower and flour both coming from the same Latin word :O I wondered if also bloom and blossom come from the same PIE root, and yes! https://www.etymonline.com/word/bloom It's nice how linguistic cousins end up together!
