You know about the dialects within South Korea and how confusing it is for people from Seoul to fully understand people from Busan or Daegu. North Korea also has regional dialects, but the main one is the Pyongan dialect spoken in Pyongyang and Northern China which has been incorporated along with words from other North Korean dialects to form Mwunhwae, the standard language of North Korea. There are no loan words from other languages. All those have been replaced with words derived from 'pure' Korean. The government strictly controls the language as a means to control the people. Refugees from North Korea have to learn to speak Seoul Korean since they are instantly recognizable as North Koreans.
