IU won Best Actress at the APAN Star Awards in 2018 and the show won Grand Prize at The Seoul Awards and Best Drama at the 2019 Baeksang Arts Awards. IU revealed later that the character she played resonated so much with parts of her life that people didn't know about that it nearly broke her health, and she was in and out of hospital several times during the shooting. She grew up in a family that was initially well off, but then lost everything when a debt went bad. She had to live with abusive relatives and was conned and cheated by Kpop agencies while trying to start her singing career.
