I love this type of story telling because it's close to real life. When you meet someone for the first time you only see who they are now and judge them on that, but you don't see how they got there until you know them well, and you will probably never know everything. The best Kdramas have this kind of structure, so your negative feelings about a character at the beginning change as you get to know the kind of hell that shaped them. My Mister and It's OK Not To Be OK both have this type of story telling. By the end you're completely captivated by characters you initially didn't like at all.
