Since last year, many South American countries have undergone some very discreet changes.

The United States has always regarded South America as its backyard, so they naturally began investigating these changes promptly.

Although they focused their efforts primarily on Brazil, the largest country in South America, and invested significant resources and manpower there, their decades-long presence in South American countries allowed them to uncover many subtle traces elsewhere.

Pace quickly withdrew his gaze from the shuttle flight from Bo Nation, shouldered his suitcase, and headed towards the airport terminal.

Pace walked at a steady pace, remaining vigilant at all times, ready to respond to any potential dangers.

After the military coup in Bo Nation, the CIA swiftly increased the number of spies within its borders from the original two offices with about twenty people to nearly a hundred.

Among them were several senior agent-level individuals like Pace, who, before their sudden disappearances, had not transmitted any warnings or useful information.

This indicated just how dangerous Bo Nation had become. Since being recruited and developed by the CIA as a spy, Pace had undergone several months of specialized training in their overseas training facilities on four occasions during his eleven-year tenure.

This time, he entered Brazil and, in order to avoid potential risks, posed as a regular tourist. He spent over a week in more than a dozen major cities within Bo Nation before arriving at his destination—La Paz.

At the entrance of the airport, he hailed a taxi. Like taxi drivers from around the world, the owner of the taxi Pace flagged down was a talkative local from La Paz, a man in his mid-thirties, somewhat overweight, and fluent in English.

Upon learning that Pace was Colombian, the taxi driver immediately switched to Spanish. During the Age of Exploration, both Colombia and Bo Nation were Spanish colonies, so the official language of both countries is Spanish.

With a native language exchange, the local taxi driver in La Paz became even more enthusiastic.

"Are you here for tourism, sir?"

"Yes, I am. Originally, I had planned to go to Brazil, but it's been quite chaotic over there lately. Since I still have some vacation time, I decided to visit Bo Nation instead."

"Brazil, huh? It has indeed been very turbulent there in the past couple of years."

As soon as Pace mentioned the neighboring Brazil, the smile on the face of the local La Paz driver turned into one of schadenfreude.

As the largest country in South America, Brazil had territorial disputes with many of its neighboring countries. While the two countries with the most serious territorial disputes with Brazil were Secret Country and Bara Nation, Bo Nation had not been spared from the bullying of this South American powerhouse.

As a result, in recent years, conflicts between the Brazil Government and the major drug lords within its borders had escalated, leading to frequent armed conflicts and severely affecting the security and stability of Brazil.

Although its neighbors publicly criticized the drug lords, in reality, they watched the chaos in Brazil with glee, hoping that the situation would become even more chaotic.

After chatting with him for a while, Pace felt it was about time to subtly steer the conversation toward his area of interest.

"Before coming to La Paz, my colleagues were advising me, saying that there was just a military coup here, and the situation is very chaotic... Before I got off the plane, I was worried that there might be gunfights on the streets here!"

The local La Paz driver didn't get offended. He glanced at Pace through the rearview mirror and said with a smile, "That's just European and American media trying to smear us. Although our former president in Bo Nation came to power through elections, the new president came to power through a military coup. However, the new president has done much better in terms of domestic economy, political stability, and citizen welfare than the previous ones!"

He was just like the ordinary Bo Nation civilians Pace had encountered in the dozen or so cities before. They were all very satisfied with the new government and president in Bo Nation.

And Pace had a rough idea why that was the case.

After the new president took power in Bo Nation through a coup last year, he actively aligned with Moscow and Beidou. He had also improved relations with neighboring countries like Secret Country, Bala Nation, and Venezuela, using some means that Pace wasn't aware of.

The most important regional cooperation organization in South America, the South United States Nations Alliance, had imposed sanctions on Bo Nation last year in conjunction with European and American countries after the military coup. They had temporarily revoked Bo Nation's membership status.

However, at the beginning of this year, the South United States Nations Alliance quietly lifted the sanctions against Bo Nation and restored its formal membership status.

Regarding these developments, the newly appointed Bo Nation Government has performed exceptionally well.

Despite declaring independence in 1825, Bo Nation gradually fell under the control of European and American capital through various means, including the exploitation of its industrial and resource sectors.

After the coup last year, the new government, disregarding threats from European and American nations, decisively reclaimed control of the country's industrial and mining resources from European and American capital. They vigorously developed state-owned mining corporations and improved the welfare of their citizens.

Despite the joint sanctions imposed by European and American countries, there were not many countries left in the world that continued to import Bo Nation products. However, Bo Nation managed to sell its minerals through various channels and obtained a significant quantity of cheap essential goods from Russia and a certain Far East country.

Bo Nation's economy did not experience significant decline, and the vast majority of its civilians benefited from the nationalization of industrial and mining resources controlled by European and American capital.

As a result, the situation in Bo Nation remains stable to this day. Various essential goods are abundant and affordable in the market. In comparison to Venezuela, which is also under European and American sanctions, the citizens of Bo Nation naturally made choices that were in their best interest.

As Pace listened to the taxi driver, whom he had successfully engaged in conversation, he continued to introduce the changes in Bo Nation over the past year.

Although he occasionally interjected with a question or two, his mind was rapidly spinning.

"The military coup in Bo Nation was too sudden. The new president must have had foreign support, and that foreign force is likely from Moscow or Beidou. But what is their ultimate goal? To influence the political situation in South America? But this place is too far from Moscow and Beidou."

Suddenly, Pace remembered that when his superiors assigned him this mission, they also provided him with a special device that was said to detect whether there were surveillance devices in his vicinity.

It was said that this new anti-interception detection device, once activated, would automatically emit vibrations as a warning if there were surveillance devices within a certain distance.

After retrieving his luggage at the airport, Pace had activated and worn the anti-interception detection device on his person.

However, it seemed to have malfunctioned. After activating it inside the airport, it continuously emitted vibrations that only Pace could feel, and it did not stop.

Pace clearly did not trust the idea that there were surveillance devices in the taxi he had randomly flagged down, from the airport in La Paz to inside the taxi. He trusted his own observation; the taxi he had chosen was fine.

So, there was only one possible conclusion.

"Is it broken? What a terrible start!"

This mission, suddenly thrust upon Pace, was filled with too much uncertainty.

If it weren't for his superiors promising Pace that, after completing this mission, they would recommend him for a position at the United States headquarters and ensure he could obtain United States citizenship, along with a bonus of five hundred thousand dollars, Pace wouldn't have even considered taking on this task.

After more than twenty minutes of the taxi driver's incessant chatter, Pace arrived at a five-star hotel near La Paz Airport.

He paid the fare, thanked the taxi driver, and entered the hotel with his luggage.

What Pace didn't know was that just after his figure disappeared from view, in the taxi behind him, the somewhat overweight taxi driver's eyes were flickering with a red light.

"Attention, strike team. New user in room 1106 at the Lanwote Hotel, suspected CIA spy. He has a special radiation monitor on him that can capture the electromagnetic spectrum we emit. Please apprehend him immediately!"

After the cold mechanical voice finished speaking, the taxi turned around at the hotel entrance and headed back towards the airport.

[I have been searching for alternatives for country names, I will change Bo Nation to Bolivia, but I am unable to find for others, like secret country and such...]
