After a brief stop in Shen Cheng for a day, Sun Cheng hitched a ride with Wang Yuan and returned to South Capital before nightfall.
Wang Yuan had the driver drop him off directly at the entrance of the residential area, which was a thoughtful gesture.
However, Sun Cheng didn't head straight to the villa.
There was a supermarket not far from the residential area, and he knew that Ye Qi must have been eating whatever she could find during his absence.
Having lived together for over a decade, he knew his sister's personality all too well.
Ye Qi had always been a good cook from a young age, but at some point, she had become somewhat of a shut-in.
Sun Cheng didn't discriminate against shut-ins or anything, but, how should he put it...
It felt a bit awkward, she hadn't turned into the perfect goddess he had imagined.
He bought some pork bones at the supermarket and then thought for a moment before picking up a few boxes of fatty beef and lamb, along with some vegetables, mushrooms, and meatballs. With one hand on his suitcase and the other carrying a bag full of groceries, he headed home.
"I'm back!"
He opened the door and softly spoke to the visual screen hanging in the entrance of the house.
It was a Visual Indoor Communication System, present in every room, similar to a video phone, not something particularly rare.
He temporarily placed the groceries in the kitchen, tossed his suitcase back into his own bedroom, and changed into some casual home attire.
Then, he returned to the kitchen and organized the groceries he had casually left there into different parts of the fridge.
From the state of the fridge, Sun Cheng could immediately guess how Ye Qi had been living for the past few days when he wasn't at home.
Without him, she probably didn't bother to cook and simply ate whatever was readily available in the kitchen.
Rolling up his sleeves, Sun Cheng selected some of the fresh vegetables and meat he had just bought from the fridge and started washing them.
Since Ye Qi had arrived, he rarely cooked for himself.
Part of it was because Sun Cheng only knew how to make simple home-cooked dishes, and the other part was due to lack of time.
But today, he had some free time, so he didn't mind preparing a simple dinner.
Ye Qi usually livestreamed at night, and when Sun Cheng was at home, they would have dinner together. It wasn't a small meal, and they often had a late-night snack around 1 a.m.
Calculating the time, it was still early for a late-night snack, so reheating the food later would be fine.
Eating hot pot alone lacked the atmosphere, and he had bought a lot of ingredients.
So, after washing the vegetables, Sun Cheng thought for a moment and cooked a pot of rice while simultaneously preparing a spicy hot pot.
He had only recently learned this from Ye Qi, and today was his first time making it himself. Although it felt a bit troublesome at first, it wasn't too difficult.
Soon, a plate of enticing spicy hot pot was placed on the table.
Sun Cheng picked up a few pieces and tasted it. The flavor was decent, not as good as the dish Ye Qi had made that day, but since he followed her recipe and used the same ingredients, and he wasn't particularly picky, it tasted pretty good.
After a simple taste, he put down his chopsticks.
After thinking for a moment, Sun Cheng went to the visual communication device in the entrance of the dining room, pressed the room number that represented Ye Qi's livestreaming room, and said, "Ye Qi, I'm back. I just made some spicy hot pot. Do you want me to bring some over for you?"
The visual indoor communication system installed in their house was a version for upscale villas, costing nearly two hundred thousand. It could be operated through voice commands or manual button presses.
From Sun Cheng's personal perspective, this was a rather redundant invention, with its sole purpose being convenient communication for families with multiple rooms.
After speaking, he waited in front of the communication device.
He didn't have to wait long; soon, Ye Qi's image appeared on the screen of the communicator.
"Hey, I'm live right now... I've already had dinner, but could you save me a bowl in the fridge for my late-night snack... Just don't leave too much, or I won't be able to finish it!"
"Sure!"
After confirming that Ye Qi wasn't planning to eat immediately, Sun Cheng served her a bowl, covered it with plastic wrap to keep it fresh, and placed it in the fridge.
Afterwards, he had dinner alone in the dining room.
Once he finished eating and washed the dishes, he took a short break and then went to freshen up, taking a warm shower.
With everything done, Sun Cheng didn't head straight to his room to rest. Instead, as usual, he entered his own bedroom.
Following his routine, he first used the Micro Electromagnetic Interference Device to clean any surveillance devices or bugs that might have been secretly placed in his house. Then, he awakened Revenge.
"Revenge, provide a security report..."
"Everything is normal, master. No one has attempted to break in or approach the villa during your absence."
Feeling slightly reassured, after asking a few more questions, Sun Cheng opened the staircase from the office to the garage and entered the Safehouse.
Unless there was an urgent matter, he spent a few hours in the Safehouse every night before going to sleep.
Located underground at the villa, the Safehouse had been transformed into his private mini research lab, equipped with various devices and tools.
Compared to Base One, which was less convenient to access, the Safehouse beneath the villa was much more convenient.
Therefore, when Sun Cheng realized there was a risk of exposure at Base One on Tiger King Ridge a few days ago, he not only selected Nubra Island as the new location for Base Three in the Real World but also started an expansion project deep within the Safehouse.
Inside the small laboratory within the Safehouse, a massive metallic box-like object, approximately three meters long, almost a meter wide, and a meter high, occupied nearly half of the space. It resembled a high-tech coffin.
This was the result of Sun Cheng's recent busy work – a completed Sleep Capsule.
The first generation Sleep Capsule didn't boast extensive functionality.
After salvaging several Electrocardiogram Monitors and making multiple modifications to the Sleep Capsule's configuration, Sun Cheng successfully integrated the electronic components from one of the Electrocardiogram Monitors into the Sleep Capsule.
In addition, he added an Oxygen Supply System and an Artificial Massage Device to the Sleep Capsule.
Although the results of Sun Cheng's initial personal testing weren't ideal – his time to fall asleep didn't decrease – his actual sleep time reduced by seven to ten minutes.
He was satisfied with this outcome.
In the next phase, Sun Cheng intended to find a harmless, non-toxic gas that could be used as a sleep-inducing agent for the Sleep Capsule.
He also planned to make some improvements to address the minor issues he had encountered during testing.
Unfortunately, in the Real World, his human body had become a burden to him, as he was used to his powerful Decepticon mechanical body.
