A few steps brought him to the foot of the mountain, next to the rustling sound coming from the grass.

Sun Cheng dropped the oil barrel he was holding on the ground and shook his hand. He picked up a dry branch from the ground and cautiously probed the low bushes in front of him.

In the next moment, accompanied by a soft rustling sound, he quickly parted the dense grass, revealing a spider-like robot hiding inside that appeared to be the size of a domestic cat, emanating a metallic sheen.

"It's really you..."

He reached out and grabbed the metallic spider, causing Sun Cheng to furrow his brows involuntarily.

Scout Type 1 robot!

That was the code name he had given to these small creatures that resembled spiders!

At first glance, these robots looked like spiders, but upon closer inspection, one would notice that their main bodies resembled cylindrical monitors commonly seen on the market. They had an ultra-clear mechanical eye at the front that could be adjusted 180 degrees, and six slender metal joints below the main body that allowed for free movement. Indeed, they closely resembled the spider-like creatures often seen in B-grade movies.

And this was the creation that Sun Cheng had personally designed and manufactured in a different world!

The Scout Type 1 robot was a machine with a very simple mechanical body structure, extremely simple indeed.

Its mechanical body was made of aluminum alloy, weighing only 1.4 kilograms. More than 95% of the components posed no production difficulties whatsoever. Even the only component that required some technical expertise, the ultra-clear mechanical eye, could be mass-produced through industrialization.

This roughly designed creation, which Atlas and Teletraan completely failed to comprehend, was extremely cost-effective to manufacture.

During the experiments conducted in the different world, Sun Cheng had even managed to reduce the cost to around $1,700.

With such a low cost, it was possible to produce a robot capable of free movement within a radius of 500 meters, and even equipped with certain abilities to climb walls, buildings, and trees.

It could be anticipated that once this mass-producible robot came into existence, it would undoubtedly attract attention from various circles.

Holding this robot, which possessed no intelligence and therefore offered no resistance, Sun Cheng examined it for a moment before returning it to the bushes.

"...Still the same, it can't hide from people, and its concealment is poor..."

The Scout Type 1 robot had poor concealment capabilities, perhaps its greatest flaw.

To control costs, it utilized a Core that incorporated a dual-core processor Sun Cheng had developed based on the a6 processor of his own Apple iPhone 5, making certain improvements.

Since it was a design of his own creation and aimed at facilitating manufacturing, the processor used in the Scout Type 1 robot, designed by Sun Cheng himself, should have surpassed the performance of the a6 and a7 processors, but there might be a slight gap when compared to the Apple a8.

It was simply unfeasible to rely on such a processor to endow the Scout Type 1 robot with even rudimentary artificial intelligence.

Don't be fooled by novels and movies that make artificial intelligence seem easy to achieve. In reality, it's far from being that simple.

You see, Xiao Wu has been exposed to radiation from All Spark fragments, but he still hasn't developed any intelligence. After wiping out his consciousness, he can only rely on Sun Cheng's massive database, with a capacity of nearly 4 terabytes, to achieve basic weak artificial intelligence.

Getting up, he glanced once again at the Type 1 reconnaissance robot hiding in the bushes. He could only vaguely see its metallic reflection between the branches and leaves. He picked up the diesel barrel beside him and continued walking into the mountains.

Despite the many problems, the cost is a major factor, and this is only the most basic model. It's sufficient for now!

Clearly, the Type 1 reconnaissance robot was not released by Sun Cheng himself.

He quickened his pace and soon arrived at the entrance of Base No. 1 in the depths of the valley.

Setting down the oil barrel in his hand in a shady spot, he looked around cautiously and indeed found traces of more reconnaissance robots.

Without delay, he walked into the base, and his voice resonated, "Safeguard, did you release the reconnaissance robots?"

Hardly had Sun Cheng finished speaking when he heard a response from the passage in front of him, "Yes, master!"

Not long after, a metallic gray wolf-like mechanical beast emerged slowly from the passage.

It was Safeguard!

Sun Cheng's gaze lingered on Safeguard for a moment, but he didn't say much.

Vengeance and Safeguard, unlike regular mechanical beings, were originally micro-scouting insects attached to Frenzy mechanical bodies. They, along with Sun Cheng, had been exposed to the radiation of the All Spark twice, which resulted in some transformations.

The most noticeable change was that both of them, as well as No. 2 and Hysteria, possessed a considerable level of intelligence.

However, in the past, when Sun Cheng brought Vengeance and Safeguard back to the real world to protect himself, he erased their self-consciousness for the sake of convenience and control.

But now, it seemed that he had underestimated the intelligent mechanical lifeforms. Safeguard appeared to have developed a new sense of self-awareness.

Otherwise, it wouldn't have taken any actions without his orders.

Nevertheless, Sun Cheng had left himself with various means of control in the real world, including an early warning program.

If Safeguard had any unfavorable intentions towards him, he would certainly be the first to know.

"For now, let's wait and see..."

Sun Cheng pondered in his heart, and he was also very curious about how the self-awareness and wisdom of mechanical life came into being. "This might provide a lot of reference for my experiments in a different world!"

With this in mind, he continued to inquire, nodded slightly, took out the gas mask from his backpack, put it on, and walked towards the base.

After a short while, Sun Cheng arrived at the main hall number one.

Compared to half a month ago, the main hall number one was almost completed.

As he walked out of the corridor, two huge containers placed against the wall on the left and right immediately caught his attention. They were exactly what Sun Cheng had brought from base number two on his return.

On the left, the huge container had already been opened and was now empty.

This container originally contained a team of twenty industrial robots and hundreds of reconnaissance robots.

On the right side, the huge container remained tightly sealed.

"Master, do you need to open it?"

Safeguard, who had changed into a new mechanical body, followed closely behind and came to his side. Seeing his gaze on the large container, it couldn't help but ask.

Sun Cheng didn't answer it and walked directly to the container. He reached out and touched the cold surface of this large object, which was two sizes bigger than a regular container, for a while.

Then, calmly, he walked to a corner at the bottom and took out Xiao Wu. He aimed it at a groove on the container, which wasn't very large and had only one row of circular sockets on it. Sun Cheng said, "Xiao Wu, open it!"

In the next second, Xiao Wu leaped from his palm, transforming in mid-air, and landed in the groove.

Soon, dozens of equally thick metal joints extended from its mechanical body, both from the inside and outside, and inserted into the row of circular sockets surrounding the groove.

Accompanied by a loud exhaust-like noise, the container suddenly seemed to disassemble, and the box quickly contracted, revealing its contents within a short period of time.
