I keep muting the strings on the index finger as soon as I put my ring finger on a string...any suggestion??? And...I’m cramping up like a mofo

Hmmm. cramping would be less if you warmed up your hands a little bit with some hand exercises first. Your index finger is probably catching because you are strumming too close to the sound hole, try bringing it up to the spot just under where the neck and the body come together.
