Strumming, beginners always ask me the same question "what is the strum pattern?" and to be fair when you are learning it is very important to learn a handful of strum patterns that you can use to keep rhythm in a song, but as you get better you start to realize that the idea of a fixed strum pattern for an entire song is not only kind of boring, but it is also limiting. Once you realize that a strum pattern isn't necessarily a fixed idea that you can't move away form, but it is actually the foundation of the rhythm for the song that you can use to change, mix up and give the song movement, flow and that magic word that musicians love to say but never explain...
