Today we are looking at 5 different rhythm examples that I created for the ukulele to examine how to play funk on the ukulele, because Weeeeee want the funk! Give us the funk! Each on is a little different with examples 2 and 4 being built of 1 and 3 with some extra strumming and the 5th example being totally indepedent. I will walk you through each example over a funky drum track at 60 BPM, which is much slower than regular funk, which is usually played between 90 and 110 BPM, but not limited to that range. Over the drum beat not only will I be playing it but I will also show you exactly how I work out the strumming when the beat is playing. You can use this to add a funk flavor to the songs that you already know, write your own music, or how to layer rhythm so you aren't playing the exact same thing.
