Today we are going to learn how to play "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty. This track came out in 1989 and was the opening track to Tom Petty's first solo album, up until then it had also been Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, this was the first time Tom had full control, although he did bring in Jeff Lynne as a writing partner for the album. In SOME ways you can consider this a two chord song, if you consider all the different variations of C and G as just one chord, but he gets a lot of those two chords as we see the C, Csus4, Cadd9, G, Gsus4, G6sus4 which I didn't even know was a chord until this song! For those curious about the formula it is a root, 4th, 5th, 6th and it sounds very cool! The arrangement for the tabs is a shorter version than the song as it skips the 4th verse but I will show you where to squeeze it in if you are interested. A lot of times with songs like this I will try to trim them down into a slightly shorter version and I find the average attention span of the listener shortens when you remove lyrics and rely just on the melody. That is only my personal experince though, that is why in the tabs I will show you how to play the full song. Without further ado, how to play Free Fallin' in the instrumental style on your ukulele with the full tabs on the screen, enjoy!
