We are going to level up our rhythm skills by looking towards Motown and Stax records. Soul music, soul fills. People often times they look to me and they say "I want to play like you" and first off, that is extremely flattering, but there is a misconception of what I am doing. People think they need to master scales, which they do, so they can play solos, which sure they can but that is more of a playing with other people skill. So, how do you apply that knowledge and information to your playing, to a make make your covers sound better while you are playing alone? Rhythm. It is all about improving your rhythm skills. This one is going to come with a backing track as well so you can really iron out these ideas in time, because if you can't play these ideas in time they won't sound good, it is as straight forward as that. So, having that said, if these ideas are too hard for you simplify them, take the idea that is in 8th notes and make them 4er notes so you can keep them in time. Once you get there you can start to build them back up again.
