Today we are going back to 1999 for one of the most played songs from my Freshman year of high school. The first time I heard this song I was driving to Michigan Adventure and heard it on the radio in my friend Rob's mom's white Honda civic. The song came out in the 1999 album that came out after the follow up to their big hit Fly, and the song ended up climbing up all the way to number 3 on the Billboard hot chart. The song is in the key of Ab, but that means all barre chords, so because of that we decided to teach the song in two different keys, the key of G and the key of Ab, if you want to you can put a capo on the first play and play the song in the key of G and it would actually be in the key of Ab.

One of the coolest parts of this song is the iconic intro riff that we walk through note for note as well in both keys, the Ab version and the G version. This is something that I have had a lot of fun playing around with and I have been walking around playing this riff everywhere I go!

Will improve

  • Playing one song in two keys
  • Double stop riffs
  • Pull offs
  • Slide
  • Changing chords on the off beat
  • Quick chord changes
