Today we are going to learn how to play "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" on the ukulele. We have done a lot of Beatles songs because they have so many classic songs. This song has an incredible 3/4 fingerpicking intro that sounds amazing. It is a A5 power chord, or an A and a 5th, the E note, with a chromatic bass line moving over top it from the A, to the G, F#, to the F. At the F you it becomes a Dm with an F in the bass, but if you are playing it acoustically it sounds amazing with an F+ as well. The harmony is very cool. The song then goes into some fun strumming in 3/4 with some non-diatonic borrowed chords from other keys. We are in the key of A for the intro, the bridge is the key of F and the chorus is the key of G. Three keys in one song and you really don't even notice! Sometimes a key change is something strong that. you can feel in your face, not in this case.
