As you can see from the title, these tricks have a vast array of musical applications. Anything from Little Wing to Gravity, John Mayer to John Frusciante, Motown to Stax. Today we are going to upgrade our rhythm skills and soul and Motown rhythm techniques that you can hear in the 60s soul sound, that was adopted by players like Jimi Hendrix to use in his chordal scale rhythm playing of songs like Little Wing. In modern music we can hear it in guitarist that were both influenced by Jimi as well as guitarist that were influenced by the soul scene, two good examples being John Mayer and John Frusciante.

We will kick things off by looking at the 6/8 time signature that was so popular during that time and the G and C barre chord shapes that used and layered with this music. Each chord has 3 different tricks that you can use but you should also know that these tricks are connected to these chord shapes, meaning you can use these ideas over any chord if you know where to find it in one of these two shapes.
