The song is in the key of D and the time signature is 6/8, there are some fun non-diatonic chords, well, actually one 1, the C chord that is thrown in the intro for added tension. The song is in 6/8 so you would count it 1 2 3 4 5 6 just like that, with the emphases on the 1 and the 4. When playing the intro riff simply treat the hammer on and pull off on the 4th beat as a single 8th note, this will help you keep time. The solo is in D major so if you are jamming with a friend improvising in D major pentatonic with fast legato phrases and a fair amount of bends will get you really close.
