Stuck in the pentatoic? Wondering how to make solos sound sweet past these five notes? The pentatonic is the core of almost every solo because it is so easy to use, but it is only 15 notes and in the western world we have 12, so, what about the other 7? Well, a good way to start to learn to jam them is with the 2 extra notes, the 4th and 7th, that make the major scale. These notes can be more dissonant, and as a result they need a little more care and caution, but once you learn how to tie them into the chords, target chord tones within the progression and really pull the flavor about of them, you will be using them in not time and really shredding. So, lets take a journey past the pentatonic and learn how to solo with the major scale!
