Today we are focusing on how to solo, specifically we are going to look at several exercises you can add to your playing to improve your ability to to play quickly, accurately and with articulation. These are 3 different exercises that focus on 1/4er notes, 1/8th notes and 1/16th notes. They are broken down into small manageable pieces to help you learn the actual exercises and once they are under your fingers you should put a metronome on at 50 BPM and try and play these exercises with in time. Once you feel confident at 50, turn it up to 60, repeat then 70, then repeat and repeat until you get to higher speeds.

The idea is to do this with the 1/4 notes, then once you feel confident move on to the 1/8ths and the 1/16ths. You can also modify the intervals to do this with other scales, for example this is the A dorian mode, but you can move the 6th to the flat 6th, the F# note to the F note, and you have melodic minor and you can repeat the exercises. You can also transpose the exercises up the neck for simple transposition ideas.

At the end of this lesson you will have improved your timing, improved your ability to play in time, improved your general knowledge of timing as well as your overall speed and articulation when playing scales on the ukulele.
