Today we are learning how to play Voodoo Child by Jimi Hendrix with an amazing cover by Stevie Ray Vaughn. I encourage you to watch as many covers as you can so you can see how they vary, this song is very fluid and it is meant to be improvised and experimented with.  The best way to do that is to get a foundation with the riffs and licks and then learn how to mix them up and jam with them.

If you never seen the James Hill cover for this song you should really watch it, it is truly a display of the highest level of ukulele playing on planet earth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wzsE67O5tE

nice, found the parts weren't that bad- I could actually make the intro riff sound recognizable on occasion.. could I ask some clarification on the strum pattern prior to vamps?

Nice work Nate! That's only a days worth of practice, it'll just sound better and better. So with the E5 you have two beats. I'm either down a D D D DU or something similar without the second down, like D D DU. Having said that you have two beats and you could just do D D. If you felt like strumming down on the 1st and 2nd beat would give you a little more control.
