Today we are going to learn how to play "Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty with the awesome intro riff and everything. The riff is pretty easy and also quite unique. The song is in E major but the riff is in E minor, to be more specific, the E blue scale. It is not very common to see people play the flat 5th in a E major song like this, but that is what gives it the edge. It is always fun to play a song that is both easy to play and sounds amazing.

Tabbed out piece by piece as always so you will be able to learn the whole song with a full play along at the end. We will walk through the song, the verse, chorus and interlude literally break down everything single strum, every down and every up so you can jam this out and have some fun with it. I didn't do a very good job in the play-along, but in general, Tom has some pretty basic melodies that aren't too high, and aren't too low, with smaller ranges, that are great for beginners out there who are trying to learn how to sing in key, specially beginner male voices.
