Just coming off the 10 day #ChordMelodyChallenge I wanted to do a fun chord melody to try and, well, challenge everyone that has been doing the challenge. If you haven't checked out the challenge you totally should, there is a link down at the bottom of this body of text with the other links, it is a 10 day crash course in this style of music that will really help you learn the skills you need to able to play this kind of stuff.

This song was originally written by Osvaldo Farrés and later become a hit for Bobby Capó in 1947. The version that I fell in love was the first version I heard, the english cover by Cake. As a result the song has a lot of different covers, different versions and with that comes variation. I added a more traditional intro, but I also included the trumpet riff from the cake version. They sing and play the song in C minor, but we did the tutorial in A minor. That way with all these pieces you can arrange them in an order that you like.

The song has an intro, cake riff, verse, part B and a coda the suggested order would be Intro Verse Cake Riff Verse Part B Verse Coda How you arrange it will be up to you, but tomorrow we are going to do a full play-along with tabs and our play-along will look like that arrangement, just so you know! So, who has coverd this song you ask? Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, but actually in Spanish with a really funny American accent, Ben E. King, Sara Montiel, Doris Day, Celia Cruz, Paco de Lucía, Cake and Buena Vista Social Club just to name a few. Dude! Great arrangement. In bar 24 and 25, are you playing - - 10 - instead of - 8 10 - in the score? (i.e. skipping the 8th fret c string?). Also, played ay .5x you sound very stoned justsayin'

Hahahaha, I bet I sound VERY stoned at 50 percent hahahaha. Yes, that might have been a mistake. The arrangements, and how I play them in real life, so much more fluid so it can be tricky to nail down somethig perfectly. A good example is in part B the first time through when I go down and grab the B note on the 7th fret of the E string I also play that on the 11th fret of the C string when I am jamming and just mix them naturally so sometimes the tabs suffer for that reason.
