Today we are going to learn how top play "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" the haunting final track of Nirvana's unplugged album originally recorded by Lead Belly during John Lomax's visit to the prison where Lead Belly was incarcerated. During the concert Kurt refers to Lead Belly as being the favorite artist of everyone in the band, which kind of surprised me. Then he makes a joke about them trying to sell him Lead Belly's guitar for 200,000 dollars. He wouldn't love Lead Belly's guitar? But that price... is any guitar worth that much money?

This song is an 8 bar loop with a melody influenced by the blues but also a waltz as it is in 3 four time. The song has only 4 chords, pretty straight forward blues style chords as the G chord added into makes it feel more much bluesy. It is interesting when the melody plays the G over the B chord as well, making a really hard dissonant sound that really defines the 6th bar of the song and makes the melody unique and fun to listen to.

Both are great, I probably like the Nirvana one more only because it felt like Kurt was saying goodbye to use, the emotion in it is so intense.
