One of the best ways to take a blues from sounding like a beginner blues to a more advanced professional sounding blues is with the use of a tasty turnaround. In fact the first time BB King heard Billy Gibbons, guitar player for ZZ Top, play guitar he told hime "He son, I like the way you turn that thing around." Today we are going to learn our first turnaround in the key of E and then we are going to learn how to make two modifications to it so it'll sound a little different and more difficult.

Later on in the challenge we will have some another Ukulele tutorial that will dive into more ukulele turnarounds but for right now these two are a great place to get started. You can also use your turnarounds to kick your blues off, they are a great way to start any blues song.

Here is how to enter and maybe win yourself a brand new Ukulele from Tenthumbs! It works like this all you have to do is tape yourself doing all 10 days and upload them to instagram and tag us @Tenthumbspro. If you complete all 10 days you are entered to win a Ukulele! Great Challenge, really like the response on our mediocre attempts ;) Just something : I'm playing the bar B7 and I really don't have to lift my middle finger that way to grab all the chords, do I ? Is it a bad habit ? It slides so well.. :-)

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to when you say lift the middle finger that way. From the videos I saw on facebook your B7 looks and sounds good.

Of course it sounds good ;) ;) ; No, serious : when I take the open E7 chord, I have my middlefinger on the 2nd string/2nd fret. Then I just slide it one fret to bar the B7 and then up two frets to take the A7. I don't have to lift that middlefinger at all. I always try to take my chords as economically as possible and try to think ahead. It's just that I see a lot of people always take the same chord grips, even if those are pretty difficult to chance quickly. Being from Belgium I always think that I do something wrong/different and not the others ;) But hey, read this while drinking a cup of coffee, smile and forget about it. And keep on rockin' and rolling of course.
