Intro/Preview (0:00) Chords (1:03) 16th Strumming Warm Ups (1:54) Verse (2:52) Verse Play-along (9:16) Bridge (10:03) Bridge Play-along (10:34) Chorus (11:17) Chorus Play-Along (13:56)

Today we are going to learn how to play "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" by Paul Simon. Beginner easy chords, but a very very tricky strum pattern that is both in the 16th strum pattern and percussive and FAST! We will take it slow, breaking down every single strum, every single down up, every mute so you can get this song exactly like Paul is playing it. Just to make it tricky the song has random measures of 2/4 and even one of 3/4! This is the only song I know that has measures of 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4! Very interesting. A song like this could never be popular today because songs on the radio follow very rigid formulaic patterns in terms of where to put the chorus, how many choruses, how long the verse is, etc, this song looks nothing like anything on the radio today. I don't believe one is better than the other, music is just a matter of preference BUT! I do believe that this songs that are so different are a lot more fun to play because they are so different.

I wasn’t mistaken. The “more” guitar version can be found on “the Muppets original sound track”. https://open.spotify.com/track/4W9b49P72RO0l7FyrLenAm?si=lNQlZbU1Sp6J_hpNuAtmKA

That's just made me listen further on to 'Mah Na Mah Na', which I'll now have in my head for the rest of the day! (My friends & I always sing 'phenomena' to this whenever anyone says that word - which is fine until you're at work & no-one knows what you're on about...)
