New Ukulele Tutorials every Wednesday and Saturday Today we are going to learn how to play "The Weight" by The Band. This song is so beautiful and blast to play on the Ukulele. We will break down the whole song, the intro, the verse, the chorus and at the very end we will do a full play-along. This song is so classic, we will break it down piece by piece so you can nail it. We will start with that classic two bar riff for the intro to set the stage. After that we will break down the verse. The verse is 8 measures and 3 chords, the A, C#m and D chords. The chord progression is only 2 measures and repeats itself 4 times in the verse, but it also changes a little bit in each progression. The 2nd time through for example the A chord resolves on the high E note instead of the A note, which means you will also need to know multiple chord shapes and barre chords to get the melody just right.
