#10DayBluesChallenge - Day 10 - Your First Full Solo. We are going walk you through how to play your very first solo. A standard solo is 12 bars. The best way to learn how to play a 12 bar solo is to divide that into 3 sections of 4 bars. Within that framework it is good to divide the solo into licks as well. When you practice those little pieces independently it will make it much easier to put them all together. So in the video we will teach you the solo lick for lick, note fore note, note that all the notes come from the first two shapes of the A blues scale. Once you get all four of those four pieces down we will fire up the jam track and jam along with it, once you feel good playing along with me download the MP3 with the tabs and play the solo yourself! It sounds great!

Tyler, brushing up on reading sheet music (haven't done since high school), why do the notes on the ukelele start so low on the register?

Ally

Tyler, Why do you sometimes count as "1, 2, 3 & 4" and other times as "1 & 2, 3 & 4"? It is confusing.

Tyler Austenfeld

Hi Ally, so I just count what I am actually going to play. If I don't play the & I don't count &. One good exercise is to count the lick without playing it. If you can just count it you'll nail it when it comes time to rock it out.
