Tyler from Ten Thumbs Production is coming to the Bay Area! He will be doing a double workshop and performance at ACME Music in Oakland on July 12th from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 per person.

Workshop #1 - 5:30-6:15pm
Past the Strum Pattern:

This beginner level lesson is designed to help beginners learn how to count music and how it relates to the strum pattern. It starts with half notes, than quarter notes, eight notes, and lastly 16th notes. Each is provided with strum patterns of the down up equivalency. This is dedicated to beginners looking to level up to the pre-intermediate and/or intermediate level.
Will improve
- Ability to count music
- Ability to strum a ukulele
- Ability to create your own strum pattern
- Ability to analyze a songs strum pattern

Workshop #2 - 6:30-7:15pm
Pre-intermediate Level Blues
Intro Jamming:

This lesson is designed to get students out of the strumming box and into the lead. It is for students who want to learn how to solo but have no idea where to start. We will start from zero knowledge and finish with the ability to find shape 1 and 4 of the pentatonic scale and play over a 12 bar blues progression.
Will improve
- Identifying the scale to use to solo the blues
- How to find the root note
- How to build the pentatonic scale around the root note
- Shape 1 of the Pentatonic Scale
- Shape 4 of the Pentatonic Scale
- Triplet timing
- Difference between blues and pentatonic scale
- Licks in A blues
- Licks in E Blues
- Using the Pentatonic Scale for fills and basic licks

Damn... I’m flying back home to Oakland Saturday morning the 13th. Is the Livermore session still planned for Saturday? How do I sign up for that?

Yes Ryan, just come on down to 50 S Livermore Ave, Livermore, CA 94550 the Casse Croute Bakery and you can pay there. We have plenty of space.
