Today we are going to learn how to play "The Sky is Crying" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. This is a really cool slow blues in the key of C. It is what is called a "quick turnaround" blues because the 2nd bar has a quick jump to the 4 chord. Instead of playing the classic F7 and G7 chords we are going to play the F9 and G9 chords and even approach the G9 from the Ab9 chord, another signature Stevie Ray Vaughn move.

After we walk through the cool 12 bar blues in C that you would use to sing and play it we will walk through 5 signature SRV blues licks that I transcribed and arranged for Ukulele directly from the intro solo of this song. This licks will not only sound great in this blues, but any blues in C and if you know how to transpose them you can use them any blue so you can really shred!

I used to occassionally wait tables at ALL the permutations of Antones the blues club....and take the bands drink orders, etc. Saw Jimmy and Little Stevie...so often it was old hat! Just fond memories! I really got to watch that signature sound and look evolve.
