I had a lot of fun doing the drone in E, so I wanted to show you how to get the most from your high-G string to create drone style riffs and arpeggios as we continue to take an advanced look at rhythm and continue to try and get ourselves away from the basic strum patterns.

High G Drone Riffs and Rhythm - Passed the Strum Ukulele Rhythm Tutorial The High G string on the Ukulele is seen a lot of times as curse, a road block, and something that you need to work around. Today we are going to embrace the high G string to create full, fun, ukulele rhythms that are both beautiful and great, and gan get you away from just strumming your Ukulele. Your favorite Ukulele players, James Hill for example, go way passed just strumming and use ideas like fingerpicking and complex arpeggios to create fuller harmonies, polyphony, and a much cooler way to play than just strumming a couple of chords. Thanks enjoyed this, was mucking around with the Jack Johnson - "Breakdown " (fingerpicking) riff and seems to tie in with this, somehow. Still trying to get my head around the theory but one day it will just click, right? Keeping at it :)

Yeah, it will just click. I never studied it, I just noticed little theory details that I picked up along the way. Scales, intervals, chord tones, those three things you are the ones you should try to internalize along the way.

This is amazing. I’ve been trying to improvise better. This had lots of reminders I needed plus new stuff.
