Jimi Hendrix E Power Chord and Jimi Style 3 Licks - Ukulele Tutorial

New Ukulele Tutorials every Wednesday and Saturday, subscribe and learn. I was jamming to some Voodoo Child, because I love that song, and I was exploring some ideas with the fills when I put them against this E5 chord and I had an a-ha moment. Today we are going to look at the E5 power chord, which also works as a sub for the E chord, too! and how we can use the open E string in the chord to create tasty fills, licks, etc. I will show you three basic Jimi licks that you can rock and roll with and have some fun with and after that you will be able to add this chord and these ideas into your own playing and jamming. I'm talking tasty Voodoo Child style tunes, Jimi Licks, jams, E vamps, Hey Joe, or your own original songs, there are so many ways for you to use this lovely chord! this is a god-send. I play in E almost all the time. I use the two-finger E (1X02) which is even easier than the E5.

Tyler are power chords moveable like Barre Chord shapes? Thanks.

Tyler Austenfeld

Yep, but you would have to mute the E string to move this particular shape. A5 has another really cool comfortable open stringed shape. Check out this video to see how that shape works and how the C5 shape moves. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0fCOIqmNNU" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0fCOIqmNNU</a> Great question!
