Thanks for the lesson today. I have James Hill's Duets for 1 but the issue I have with that book is most of the songs I'm not familiar with and I can't "feel it" when I play. I've found I can latch onto chord melody better with songs I know really well. For example I got Seal's Kiss From a Rose, Whitney Houston's Saving All My Love for You, and recently Smashing Pumpkins Sweet Sweet. I tried with some MJ songs cause I know those by heart but still had issues. Other recommendations for working on chord melody in the interim? I've also gone through Twinkle Twinkle and Mary Had A Little Lamb. They seem easy enough to figure out and I can play them but I have no idea how I know how to play them... If that makes any sense? Sorry for the longwinded question. Appreciate you!

The biggest key to nailing the chord melody I think is playing the melody over and over so when you add the chords you already have a really good strong idea of what the melody should sound like. So I would search for tabs for just the melody, of which honestly there are few, and sheet music. The key is going to be reading sheet music, maybe we will do that lesson this Friday to really get the ball rolling quicker.

Tyler great job. I really, like the idea of taking sheet music to tab. I’ve been experimenting with this some. Would love your input.

Thanks, I am thinking next Monday for the next live class. Let me try and get my schedule organized and confirm that later with everyone.
