better keep people in the loop for what the general goings on are and what the roadmap is
putting a link to 2.8's post because I'm replacing the pinned with this post

So, 3.0 is quite close to being done, for the past few months it has been, rewriting every single thing in the mod from basically the ground up while also modifying my own build of starbound's engine to use alongside it
in the general sense, there isn't much that's truly "new" in 3.0 aside from things just, working how they always should have done rather than me using buggy hacky workarounds because of original engine limitations
I'm probably not even going to bother with a changelog getting into the nitty gritty of things because it would essentially look like
Removed
- everything
Added
- everything
not to say there isn't new stuff in, there was plenty that was put in in the process of just improving things as I wrote the new code, I just am gonna have a hard time comparing 2.8 to 3.0 because for the most part nothing but sprites and the general design of how things are intended to work has been carried over, intended being the key word there, as many things in the old version didn't work as I intended them to!
anyway, when it is finished, I'm going to try to wrap up my website design, and then 3.0 is going to be released there publicly for everyone for free (with a TOS agreement) because heck has it been too long, however, I still want to be somewhat in control of my work, I don't want any of y'all doing stupid shit that gives me anxiety, you see an idiot uploading videos and not age restricting it, obliterate them for my own sanity.
keep up with the weeklies as most of the major programming tasks are wrapping up, helping with bugs that slip through the cracks so we can have a good entirely stable release on 3.0 would be great
as for other things, fuck man it has been a long road to this point, and I really really would like to chill for a few weeks after it's done and just do some art after I finish up my final tasks, of course, because of the direction this site is going, I'm going to avoid posting it here as this is my primary income and I'd rather not potentially get it nuked because I drew furries being lewd and they keep altering policy
still will open commission slots to patrons in my server before anyone else so thing to keep in mind
as for general plans going forward, I am of course going to continue to work on SBQ when I wish to, but I feel that after 3.0, it will finally be working as I intended it to, therefore it will not receive as much attention from me, I have wished to work more on my own game for the longest time and I intend to primarily focus on it, if you're a fan of the mod, the game I intend to make should appeal as well, and be tenfold better because it will be a game actually designed around vore as a mechanic rather than just, shoehorning it in how mods do.
noting this, I am fully and entirely aware that many people still would love to see their own OCs within SBQ, meanwhile I simply do not have the time nor energy nor drive to accept a commission from everyone who desires one. So I plan to do a few things.
1. I am going to try to improve my NPC and race compatibility templates so the novice spriter and programmer can effectively use them, as well as create a template for vore monsters as well as vore objects now that it is easier to create such things.
2. in my developer channel I will try to personally explain and teach about my own mod's as well as starbound's (and my modified build of it) intricacies and inner workings and how one might best use them properly, I am however NOT going to be whole ass teaching people basic coding skills for C++ and Lua, please learn that on your own time. Definitely will give general feedback on spritework as well as how to keep things in line with my personal coding practice.
3. I am going to create a sort of "commission bounty board" of sorts within the SBQ section of my discord for people to either advertise themselves for creating add-on content for the mod or for posting that they are seeking to commission someone, and prospective spriters/programmers could then approach them (the server will have public invites again by the time I do this)
4. have a channel dedicated for people sharing/advertising their own add-ons, and if people wish, those add-ons could be rolled into the main with credit for future minor updates should the creator desire
I may still take commissions for these, and I may auction off a slot for a high price should I feel I am in need of extra funds, I have had my eyes on getting an electric bike but those cost quite a pretty penny, so, maybe sometime after I get my arting desires out if those themselves haven't already paid for it
other general musings and such, a general thank you to each and every person who has ever supported me, because of you, I was able to move out of my parent's house last year, I am able to live with my partners, I was able to begin HRT, I am able to spend most of my days working on something I actually enjoy rather than slaving away in some warehouse or retail for minimum wage, albeit, I do still work a part time job so I at least have some fallback income in case patreon decides I'm not allowed to live anymore because I am not comfortable putting all my egg(s) in one basket now that I am actually properly adult-ing
I love being in anxiety over conservatives trying to make me not be allowed to exist in multiple ways!
aside from that, just an overall general genuine thank you forever and ever for making life livable for an ADHD person like me, as this past year has been the happiest I've ever been and it has all been thanks to the income from this
... yay capitalism
