There is an opinion that the Atlantic is the first supercar. This modification of the Type 57S (or Type 57SC) was based on the 1935 Aérolithe concept car shown at the Paris Motor Show.

The Atlantic was developed personally by Jean Bugatti. The body was made of an alloy of magnesium and aluminum, called "electron", which was very light and at the same time flammable,

which did not allow joining the car parts by welding. The parts were fastened with rivets, which, according to Jean Bugatti's idea, were brought out.

The car was equipped with a 3257 cm3 compressor engine producing 210 hp. With. Accelerated over 200 km/h. After the Aérolithe, three Atlantic models were made with chassis numbers {57374}, {57473} and {57491}. Each of the three cars has its own story.

The model with chassis 57374 was ordered by Lord Rothschild and had a light blue color. She then went to Bob Oliver of Los Angeles, where she was regularly repainted, then was purchased by Dr. Peter D. Williamson

in 1971 for $59,000. He restored the car to its original form and won the Pebble Beach Automotive Beauty Contest in 2003. In May 2010, the car broke an auction record: the Atlantic was purchased anonymously for an amount between $30-40 million and donated to the Mullin Automotive Museum.

Atlantic with chassis 57473 was hit by a train at a railway crossing in 1955, resulting in the death of the owner of the car, Rene Chatard, and his companion. In 1965,

Paul Andre Benson bought the damaged car from the police station and spent 10 years restoring it.

The car with chassis 57491 was purchased by American fashion designer Ralph Lauren in 1988.

The 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic, owned by the famous Ralph Lauren, won the 2013 Villa d'Este Concours de Elegance exhibition in Sweden and received the title "Best of Show".
