Cool - this episode is my earliest memories. I don't remember the story whatsoever - but I have a particularly visceral memory of Tom in a particular bit of makeup which sent me into a cold sweat when I saw it again a decade or two after this originally aired. I must have seen it - but that the visual image is the only thing that stuck.

Kind of sounds like my memories of Superman III. All the Christopher Reeve Superman films were on tv a lot as a kid. Never saw much of the third one, or if I did, I never really remembered it, save for the one computer scene near the end, which is one of the few scenes that particularly traumatized my older brother; he still is unsettled by that scene. Though it didn’t bother me as badly, it made an impression. Years later, seeing the whole film, memory of it was fuzzy, but when it came to that scene, I instantly remembered it. Like you said with this Classic Who story, the visual image just stuck.
