This ending always felt weird to me, like they thought they'd made Graff a lot more likable than they actually had so his death has this sad vibe to it that isn't earned at all. The only other time I can recall feeling quite this way is the death of Light Yagami.

I don't really think they were trying to make us sad about the Graff's death. I think the ending is more about the Graff losing Sholakh, his closest confidant and the man that was the brains behind the operation. We saw how whenever the Graff started to get overexcited, it was Sholakh who reigned him in and put him back on track. He was the only one able to get the Graff to see sense. The Graff reminiscing about his and Sholakh's past victories is kinda sad because he's mourning the loss of his friend and it's a good parallel to Garron and Unstoffe, who manage to make it out alive and together.

"I thought I should tell you because one day, even here in the future, men will turn to each other and say, Binro was right.", Unstoffe, "The Ribos Operation" What a great story! I can't express how much I adore the character of Binro the Heritic - one of my favorite characters in Doctor Who. He was played by Timothy Bateson. IMDB lists over two hundred acting credits for Bateson's career from 1947 to 2007. Some minor film roles that you've reacted to are: voicing the Worm in Labyrinth, and voicing "Kreacher" in the fifth Harry Potter film. (He died before he could reprise the role for the seventh film.) On stage, he was in the London Premiere of "Waiting for Godot" in 1955. Nice physical humour moment at the start when the Doctor hides behind Garron. So, Garron sold Sydney Harbour and left Earth because he refused to sell the Sydney Opera House - is there nobody you can trust these days? I love that con team. And K9 to the rescue! BTW Stuart Fell, one of our favourite Who stunt actors, is in the one of the Shrivenzale costumes. Wonderful!

Also, he NEVER actually meets the Doctor. Which means they put in this whole character entirely because they thought it was a story worth telling even if strictly speaking it doesn't serve any purpose to the rest of what's going on.
