It sounds weird to say that a reaction to Black Mirror is just the ticket to come home to after a somewhat tiring day at work, but is in fact just the ticket, so, there it is. Of what I’ve seen of Black Mirror, and thus far, that’s been everything of this season, save for the last episode, but what I’ve seen, this would likely be last on my ranking. Not boring, hard to call it bad, just not as great as what came before. It is disgusting the paparazzi culture. I get that any profession within the public eye, that you have the potential to be subjected to scrutiny. Even so, there is a line in the sand you do not cross. And yeah, though you catch information about actors and actresses here and there, I’m not much of someone who has to know every single tiny little detail about the major celebrities, especially personal and sensitive information. By the way, the actor and/or actress you alluded to, I don’t know, but I have a pretty good idea of who you’re referring to, and if I am right, yeah, the backlash in that scenario was horseshit. Given statements and comments you’ve made in the past, I had suspected this episode might get to you some. Everything you had to say in your post-episode thoughts were very well-spoken, Jess. As to the werewolf twist, I also did not clock it until it was revealed. Similar to what you expressed I wasn’t thinking of the werewolf angle. And even at the end, it looked more along the lines of voodoo bullshit. Then when we saw the shot of the moon coming out from behind the clouds, I went, “...Oh.” Like you said, I was not expecting it, and there was thought it would focus more on the paparazzi angle. I mean, they do circle back to it at the end, though it wasn’t exactly subtle. Not that, from what I’ve heard Black Mirror is not necessarily known for subtlety, yet that ending felt just a wee bit too much. Other highlights of the reaction. You’re saying what a bad idea it was for Mazey to be driving whilst, I assume high, (I think. I don’t know what she took.) which yes, is the epitome of a bad idea. I can’t even drive, and even I could tell you that one. I loved your being supportive of the roommate. That was sweet. Your criticisms of the attempts to block the door when the entire front of the diner is plate glass, showing you watching The Walking Dead has sharpened your survival skills. And I second what you said of I wouldn’t have even been there in the first place, unless by pure chance I just happened to be at that diner. In which case, if werewolf shenanigans broke out, I’d book it out of there so fast, my shorts would have to hail a taxi. Despite this not being the best episode of the season, this was still a terrific reaction, Jess. Thanks.

Of course, part of what makes the werewolf twist so hard to see coming is that the show has NEVER done this kind of pure supernatural fantasy thing before, always staying on the side of "magic is just super advanced technology." And unsurprisingly, a lot of fans turned against the episode hard when it happened.
