My first time watching this one as a kid, I got so excited when they brought up the helium, hoping it would lead to everyone having goofy voices, and was quite disappointed when Tom Baker didn't go for it.

Unless I'm doing something weird (which is not unheard of), this is linking to The Face of Evil 3&4, not The Robots of Death 3&4.

Addressing your query about the guy with the phobia of robots, two thoughts on that. One, perhaps, the phobia is buried somewhat deep. It may not be readily apparent yet can bubble to the surface if properly triggered. Alternatively, the situation reminds me of one of my favorite Star Wars characters when asked why they use something that they hate, and the reply is, “I use it as I would use a poison, and in the hopes of understanding it, I will learn the way to kill it. But perhaps these are the excuses of an old woman who has grown to rely on a thing she despises.” In any case, I know that people can power through phobias in certain situations. I've mentioned before I've a mild aversion to heights, and sometimes the fear does help me get through things where I’m high up sometimes. Obviously, it’s not universal to everyone and their phobias, but it’s not unheard of. I got a laugh when you felt you were being too suspicious, and you stated that you felt like you were kind of being an asshole. To which, I replied, “Not necessarily, Jess. After all, remember what Randy said in Scream, “There’s a formula to it. A very! Simple! Formula! EVERYBODY’S A SUSPECT!!!” You don’t trust anyone in a murder mystery.” And now, to pour one out for D84. It is sad to lose him as he was a delight. Perhaps not as delightful as C-3PO or even my favorite droid from Star Wars, HK-47, even so, D84 was most delightful, and it hurts to see what happened to him. Yes, Four, Leela, and D84 would have been a Tardis team for the ages. And I recall in your Sesska’s Spa video how you state that the companions often frequent Sesska’s Spa. I could see D84 would have regularly frequented Sesska’s Spa, had he become a companion. This was a fun reaction, Jess, thank you.

"Please do not throw hands at me.", D84, "The Robots of Death" Love D84! I was anticipating this reaction knowing your soft spot for nice robots. In that scene where Leela throws her knife at the robot, Louise's knife throw went astray and almost took out a cameraman. For the next attempt they removed people from the set in case the throw went wrong again. And they used a blunt knife for future stories. BTW I have read that Taren Capel's name is based on Karel Capek, author of "R.U.R." - (Rossum's Universal Robots) - a nice robot reference.

Yes, they mentioned that the knife used in that scene was actually super sharp. I don't think health & safety featured as much back then! Love the goofy sound it makes when she throws it.

I love the Kandor City Robots - I must have a dozen or more of them from the Character Options figure line.
