Thanks for the great reaction Jess! Sorry if you’ve already answered this elsewhere but I haven’t seen anything. Will Patreon get a full reaction of Episode 3 or will it be cut into 2 parts too?

Ryan

I’m guessing that Echo’s involvement was a significant part of why Filoni decided to do a Bad Batch show rather than the Martezes. And it’s quite fun to go back to this story after that show’s first season, and see how they tweaked the characters to work better as the lead stars.

Once again, another occasion where I see the thumbnail, and it is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. Man, between this and the prison break episode of Andor, you had an emotional day of Star Wars. I'm happy that you were most invested that there was an arc with a heavy clone focus right before you got into Revenge of the Sith. Yeah, a major highlight is Echo being saved, and Rex sticking by him. Everytime you went “AWW!” was precious, Jess. I quite love the fact that you’re quite taken with Tech. You're right that it’s not pleasant the scenes of Echo’s loyalty being questioned. It does make sense. We're operating with the narrative perception of we’ve known Echo, we know he wouldn’t betray the Republic. Tech has just met him, ergo, does not have that knowledge. And like you said, you recognize that, whilst simultaneously affirming that you were not having the inquisition concerning Echo’s fidelity. Yeah, the scene with Crosshair and the mirrors was beyond impressive, leading me to say, “...NICE grouping.” Again, I agree that Wrecker is a lot. I get a big laugh, however over his being so overjoyed that he gets to blow the ship up that he starts crying. The Bad Batch as a whole are most impressive. I can’t comment on the spin-off with The Bad Batch at this time. It's quite an outrageous moment when Mace Windu tries to get the droids to surrender. Evidence of that is that Obi-Wan, a man who during the war has picked up the nickname “The Negotiator” has a look of bafflement on his face as if he’s thinking, “What happened to your philosophy of “I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.” what happened to that, Mace?” As you observed, a most effective moment of showing Anakin’s growing ruthlessness in his killing of Admiral Trench, sad to see him get killed, by the way, and it serves as a nice bookend. Talk about what you said about Grievous. All fairness, we knew back then that he was going to be in Revenge of the Sith as he was heavily advertised way back when. Therefore, if something was going to be spoiled for you, that’s one of the least spoilery. All in all, a tremendous arc. Now, the outcome of this arc is not going to be favorable to the Separatists. They've already gotten desperate following the banks being under Palpatine’s complete control. And since they’ve now lost their algorithms from Echo, that desperation will be significantly exacerbated. This of course works to the advantage of Darth Sidious, who it should be noted, most likely sensed the spike in the Dark Side when Anakin killed Trench. And even if he didn’t, he knows that most if not all of Anakin’s pillars of mental and emotional support have been extensively weakened, if not irreparably damaged, and that Anakin’s connection to the Light Side of the Force has shifted into a state of entropy that's progressing geometrically. Add all that up, and it amounts to Sidious has his denouement all figured out. Figured out and wrapped up in tissue paper with pink ribbons on it, which means... The time has come. And indeed, the time has come, and I genuinely cannot express just how immensely excited I am to be revisiting Revenge of the Sith with you, Jess. I’m not kidding, I almost feel like It’s 2005 and I'm fourteen again waiting to see Revenge of the Sith for the very first time, that’s the level of excitement that I'm at in revisiting the film with you. As I said on youtube, it has been such an amazing time sharing your journey through Clone Wars. I know it’s not over just yet, but I really just wanted to say that it truly has been one of the best times that I've ever had, and I cannot thank you enough for it, Jess!

It’s honestly kind of weird how Filoni seems hell bent on making Mace Windu look like a huge hypocritical jerk every chance he gets. Samuel L. Jackson has said he’d be open to appearing in one of the Disney+ shows, and I have no idea how that would go if he’s involved.

Yes agreed, they calm down some of them to make them less caricatures, and showed they can hold a series together. Really looking forward to season 2, its the thing I've been most looking forward to all year.

Some notes first. Those big ball droids you asked about Jess; yes they are in Attack Of The Clones at the end I believe, and are definitely in The Clone Wars movie, where - like here - Anakin jumps onto several to take them out. Hunter's knife I believe is a vibroblade, and Din Djarin carries one of them too, so you have seen one in live action now. I was the same as you when I first watched the ending of 7x03. Some people I've seen thought Echo looked like he may be a Separatist plant, but I never bought it; he was just remembering all that has happened to him, and how he'll move forward. 7x04 is a lot of fun as our crew intercept Trench's dreadnought and work their way through it taking out the droids and the bomb. Anakin seems to be becoming set in his ways, letting his rage take even more hold of him as long as it gets the job done. Its working for now, but we are only a month or two now from his downfall. Crosshair is so damn cool, and that shot was one-in-a-million. Tech is great as well, and Wrecker grows on you (or he did me). Hunter is the rather bland one I feel, but as their leader, he has to be the more level-headed one. These 8 episodes of this season are decent stuff; but whats to come is some of the best Star Wars we've seen to close out the show. Can't wait to see your reactions to it.

Well Mace is a jerk, we all know that. Filoni knows! ;)

I get why people would be suspicious about Echo. And like I commented, it makes perfect sense as to why Tech is skeptical. Like you said, I never bought it about Echo being a Separatist plant. I just loved it how in her reaction, Jess didn’t even bat an eyelash and was fully supportive of Echo. With Wrecker, it helps that he mellowed just a smidge. Yeah, Hunter ends up last for me. I do still love him, and he does have his impressive moments. And of course, like you say, someone has to be more on the down to earth side of things to keep everyone else grounded, relatively speaking.

I read your comment regarding Tech being sceptical of Echo, and you are right. Tech works in percentages and he thinks there is a high chance that Echo is now a separatist. There is no malice to his comments, just his opinion. As for Hunter, I'm with you. He's fine, I don't dislike him in any way, and keeps the Bad Batch group from straying too far off course; but yep he's last for me too. I would rate them, but will wait and see if Jess is going to continue with the animations. I hope she does, as TCW and Rebels are two of the best things in the franchise, and Bad Batch is solid stuff too. Fingers crossed.

Right, Tech’s not being mean about it, he’s simply saying that statistically and objectively, it’s not impossible that Echo would turn on the group. And in the end, Echo proves himself. I would venture a guess that it’s probable that Jess could be reacting to Rebels and/or Bad Batch after she reacts to Obi-Wan. The thing I'm still slightly hung up on is in what order would you do it, Rebels first or Bad Batch first? I should think probably Rebels first as that’s all done whereas Bad Batch is still ongoing, still it’s tricky. This is of course dependent on whether Jess does in fact react to one or both shows, which like you, I'm hopeful that she does. In any case, we shall be patient and wait and see.

Yes for me Rebels first as well. I'm Patreon to another reactor who finished TCW and jumped straight into Rebels, and one of the many reasons I felt that was the right choice, was because Rebels is indeed finished, while Bad Batch is ongoing. So though it doesn't make too much sense chronologically to start Rebels after TCW, then go back in time to Bad Batch; it works better from a story pov and will be more important moving forward with the shows to come. Tales Of The Jedi and Kenobi can be watched separately too, as they won't take too long for Jess to go through.

This would be my recommended viewing order for Jess if she is going to watch it all : Kenobi -> Tales Of The Jedi -> Rebels -> Bad Batch As said, thats not quite chronologically accurate, but its pretty easy to follow, Jess has been wanting to watch Kenobi since it came out, and for me its probably the most emotional and future-proof order, for other shows to come.

Anonymous

I think that would a good viewing order. Like you say, not quite chronologically accurate, but I think it would work. Again, we'll see how it goes.

Ryan

Plus, there’s the way some major figures from Rebels make appearances in Bad Batch, which won’t make any sense if you haven’t already seen it.
