Yes, the snake at the beginning of the episode was rude. I have a similar sentiment as you did in that I enjoyed the overall idea and theme of the episode. How well it was executed is of course down to personal preference. If nothing else, I'd say the performances certainly were impressive. Anthony Edwards was great as Dr. Everett. Poppy Liu, likewise, was great as Amy. I see your point on the episode could have done more in showing who the two characters were and are, as well as more of their dynamic in their shared scenes. Everett certainly had a unique perspective with the walkers. I’m all for scientific studies. My mom’s a retired science teacher with thirty-seven years under her belt, so I'm not necessarily critical of what he was doing in and of itself. The hypocrisy and somewhat amoral nature of what he was doing was a bit much, though. At one point I even said, “Man, you are acting like quite the Grumpy Gus, Goose.” I loved the irony of his valued specimen/friend being chompity chomp chomped as you put it. I had a line like you had and said, “You cannot interfere, sir. After all, is this not nature taking its course? Yes? No?” You raise the valid observation that Everett is on some level needing to hold on to the scientific studies, which I'd say you’re probably accurate. Amy was quite interesting as well. Particularly her calling out Everett on some of his less than savory qualities. And she gains my respect in the end when she refuses to join Everett in his endeavors. One might consider her actions foolish, but she stands by her beliefs in the end, and for that, she has my respect. Ultimately, like you say, somewhat mixed feelings on the episode as a whole. Still, I enjoyed the performances and the themes. Regarding your apologies if you’re not at your best and/or your voice is a bit off, honestly, the videos have been great, and I haven’t felt that you’ve sounded too bad. That being said, I do hope your recovery continues to go smoothly. Take care, Jess.
