After this film, it's really amusing to rewatch Fight Club, where Helena Bonham Carter has the line "The condom is the glass slipper of our generation."

Love the tiara. Your opening statements and post-reaction thoughts to this reaction makes me say that I could listen to you talk about Disney for days on end. The idea of a Cinderella podcast does sound tempting. This was quite a lovely film. Ken Branagh did a great job with this. I knew that I would love Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine. One due to Lady Tremaine is one of the more impressive Disney villains, and two, Cate is so wonderful. I was unprepared for how much she so thoroughly stole the whole damn show. She was delightful in this. Likewise, the stepsisters were an absolute riot and they had me in stiches. Other performances in this that I quite enjoyed were Stellan Skarsgård as the Grand Duke, Helena Bonham Carter as the F.G.M, and as it’s a Branagh film we have Derek Jacobi, here as the king, being marvelous as always. Also, I had a small bit of excitement as well as a real good laugh upon seeing Alex MacQueen as the guy making the royal proclamations. I even paused the film to make sure I was seeing things right, and I found myself saying, “W-Wait! N-No! Th-That's... Julius?! ...NICHOLSON?! He’s in this?!” All throughout the reaction, I was living for every second of your fashion commentary. I had to pause practically every time that Lady Tremaine sported a new ensemble, and was shouting things along the lines of, “Madam, that hat! That outfit! It’s FABULOUS!!!” Regarding your observation saying that glass slippers would be uncomfortable, I mean, I wouldn't know. I kind of doubt they would be, though. I had always assumed that a touch of magic prevented the slipper fitting anyone else’s foot. Your Disney trivia story sounds like me on trivia nights where I’m very knowledgeable on specific topics. Rude technical difficulties notwithstanding, this was a very sweet and very lovely reaction, Jess. It was no bother by the way that you cried. When you were going back and forth about would you cry or not, I was saying, “It’s no sin if you do.” I even shared a cry with you on two scenes. The first being when the film has that line of the work was good for Cinderella as it distracted from her grief and how you said it was too real for you, yeah, I said something similar when I heard the line as it’s highly relatable for me as well. Then there was the king’s final scene which hit way too close to home. Speaking for myself, you are most welcome for the vote that I cast for the Disney remakes. One reaction in and I’m already so thoroughly loving both the reaction, just how happy you are that these films finally won the poll, and just how much you loved the film. I am very much looking forward to the future reactions to the Disney remakes. Thank you again for a most wonderful reaction, Jess.

I'm losing it everytime I scroll through Patreon and just see myself crying in a tiara lmao

Ryan

There’s a theory that the glass slippers are due to a mistranslation from the original language the story was in, and they were supposed to be some rare animal skin.

DieWinterkirsche

Ella should’ve just poisoned her stepmom and stepsisters after that breakfast-scene… 😅

Jenny Chalek

I loved your observations about the compassion and kindness of Ella. I strive to be loving and compassionate with all people, but it's not always easy, like you said. Sometimes it's easier to get mad at people instead of trying to see their point of view.

Oh, and I did vote for the live action Disney even though I'm not big into Disney because you deserve to watch what you want to watch. It makes for higher quality reactions if you're enjoying it.

I've always loved Lady Tremaine as a villain. Though she's typically not brought up as one of the great Disney villains, she's always been so damn terrifying. There's a realism to her as a villain that I think packs a bigger punch than some others.

Thomas Corp

I agree. As you say, there’s a realism to her that’s chilling in a way that isn’t present in some other Disney villains. She doesn’t quite make my top ten favorite Disney villains, but she is one the most impressive, and I really love her.

Matthew Beckford

I'm sorry I never voted for these reactions, but i'm crying now and it's only 10 minutes in.
