Don't worry about offending "John fans." Most of the fandom hates John, some of us with a loathing passion. If there are fans out there that love him, they aren't very vocal about it. Dean was going through a lot, but it hurt to hear him say that to Bobby. I can almost imagine Jensen apologizing to Jim after that scene, just because Jensen's that kind of guy.

Zach is a great baddie! So well acted. Bobby being their dad is pretty popular in the fandom, I think. I haven't seen a lot of John fans. I always compare this to season 2, when Dean was so alone and made the deal. This time, Sam, Bobby and Cas are all there to try to stop him. I love seeing this development. :) "Only an angel can kill an angel." Well I guess Dean disproved that!

I have to disagree with you. Most of the GA does not hate John, and the factions of the fandom that hate him are the smaller groups of vocal shippers and extreme Dean/Jensen stans. The ones who scream the loudest =/= the majority. Neutral people stay quiet about their opinions especially because those extreme corners will harass and bully people with any difference of opinion. Personally, if he was so universally hated, I doubt Jensen would be involved in a prequel that centers on John (and Mary). Let's be real...

Still one of my favorite episodes. It was the episode that the undercurrent of S5 became the rapids on the surface of the river. Sam's redemption. They did such an amazing job putting Dean in the spot that Sam has been in with everyone losing their faith in him, and then had Sam be the only one who could reach Dean and pull him back and also be the reason he renewed his faith in Sam **chefs kiss** ETA: As far as John goes - I always looked at him as their father. But Bobby...? He was their dad.

When Dean said that to Bobby, I think it hit home with a lot of the fandom. After all, one of the most famous Supernatural quotes from the entire show is when Bobby told Dean “Family don’t end with blood” Both Sam and Dean see Bobby as a father figure and he loves them as sons, but Dean was in a bad way. I wish they would have shown him apologizing after he got his “mojo” back. Also - I love when Dean was about to say yes and he exchanged looks with Sam. Jensen did such a wonderful job acting just with his eyes and then Dean gave Sam a wink. Love it!
