Thanks for a great reaction - I'd agree, I think what you saw at the end of episode 2 does look like that sensor thing from War of the Worlds - sort of! Made me laugh that when the Doctor left Sarah in that clearing, he said he'd only follow the tunnel for half a mile & be straight back! He just can't help his curiosity. Have to say of Sarah Jane though - she was such a natural companion right from the beginning. Whether it be organizing a rebellion, using her investigative skills to find out who was behind the Dinosaur fu**ery before the Doctor did & now thrown straight into danger in this story. She always seems to find a way of bouncing back. See you next time.

The cliffhanger for episode 1 always makes me laugh. The least intimidating dalek gun ever.

I forget what that thing is at the end of episode 2, but the first thing I thought of was War of the Worlds as well! (I haven't seen most of these episodes since the 70s, so it's fun rewatching them with your reactions.)
