The second that you expressed the wish of wanting a pair of lighthearted episodes of The Clone Wars, I had a great big smile on my face, and I said, “Oh, not to worry, Jess. You are going to be in for a real fun time on these episodes!” You are correct that it is so lovely that these episodes are on the lighter side. Particularly seeing as after this, it really starts getting dark. Loved the focus on 3PO and R2. Anthony Daniels always does such an amazing job as 3PO, and in this episode, where he’s essentially the star of the show, he brought his A-game, and then some. It is insane just how fantastic of a job Anthony did with these episodes. I love how in the first one there’s the elements that are very Tolkien and in the second there are the Wizard of Oz homages. Normally we love Commander Wolffe and the other members of the 104th, these episodes however, yeah, it’s not pleasant seeing them be discourteous to 3PO. It’s therefore enjoyably karmic when Plo has 3PO regale their adventures to the clones. As you point out, yes, these episodes are bizarre, and at one point, I was laughing my ass off saying, “What the HELL is this two-parter?!” I agree that it is a surprisingly sad moment when 3PO and R2 lose power. Obviously, we know they survive, ok fine, but still, it doesn’t make it any less sad in that moment. I’m so glad you loved these episodes, Jess. As I commented on youtube, your reaction to this two-parter was a most delightful birthday treat. I had such great time both revisiting these episodes and I especially enjoyed watching this reaction. It was very much appreciated, Jess. Thank you so much.

This episode was demonstrating the great amount of bigotry, for lack of a better word, shown towards droids in this universe. Even though they are a form of sentient life, they are definitely treated as second class citizens. Kind of enraging, if you think about it. There's so much darkness in Star Wars universe, and that's part of what makes it fascinating. Thanks again for a great reaction, hope you're feeling better!
