Planet of the Daleks is usually considered the weakest story of this season and one of the weakest in the third Doctor's entire era. With that being said, I quite like it so I'm glad you're enjoying it so much! This is Dalek creator Terry Nations's first story since 1966 (he previously wrote the original Dalek story, The Keys of Marinus, The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Chase and The Daleks' Master Plan) and I think the issue people have with this story is that feels like he's just on auto pilot. He's compiled all his usual tropes (jungle planet, group of survivors, a deadly plague and a companion romance) into a sort of greatest hits kind of story. A lot of people say this story feels stuck in the 60s and feels out of place in this era. I can't argue against any of this, but it's also still enjoyable to watch.

So glad you're still enjoying it! And very much looking forward to the There's Always One Fucker video some day!

Glad you like this one, it's one of my favourites too. I think a lot of it comes down to the side characters and the casting of some good actors for them. Codal and Taron in particular. I also like that we get a few moments like the one where the Doctor tells Taron that leadership requires humanity. For me the third Doctor is often very action-oriented and brusque with companions and others (the Brig especially puts up with a lot) so these moments where he takes a beat to encourage someone, or just to speak some wisdom really stand out. Jo does seem to have a habit of making random blokes fall for her. Shame they're usually not Earth based.
