I also had been wanting to see this film since it came out, and I too was looking forward to the opportunity to see it. I love how it starts out feeling similar to a Mel Brooks film and then shifts to feeling like something out of the film Downfall. This is further shown with Taika Waititi’s portrayal of Imaginary Adolf where it initially is very “Springtime for Hitler” and slowly shifts to being reminiscent of Bruno Ganz’s famous portrayal of Hitler in Downfall. The whole cast is great. The two that stood out the most to me were Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson. That scene where Jojo recognized his mom’s shoes was such a heartbreaking scene and really makes you cry. Another scene that really makes you cry is where Captain Klenzendorf saves Jojo. Much as those scenes make you cry, neither scene is the one that got to me the most. The one that got to me the most is when Jojo’s mom dresses up and pretends to be his dad. I had to stop the film for a few minutes because that scene hurt too much. I’m glad to see that you really enjoyed the film, Jess. It’s always a pleasure to share a good movie with you, and this one was a particularly enjoyable movie to share with you. Thank you.

Jo-Jo has some of the best lines, I love it! ("Oh, I thought you were crying..") "Are you a Tear Drop Specialist?!" "..well, anyway, Me and Fake Nathen have a plan!" LoL

Taika Waititi is one of my writing heroes and this movie is a great example of why. I watched a lot of the interviews with Taika and the actors. They are worth a watch if you have the time to spend. But some fun little tidbits are: 1. This was the kid who played JoJo's first movie. 2. All of the actors (including Taika) praise the performance of the girl who played Elsa. 3. The scene where the Gestapo guy is towering over Klenzendorf was hard for them to get because Rockwell kept laughing. 4. Taika was always super nice to the JoJo actor when he was in costume. But there was one day where they were shooting the scene with JoJo and his mom. Taika was struggling to give the camera crew directions and was getting frustrated. The kid playing JoJo said it was really weird because up till he'd never seen "Hitler Taika" angry. 5. This movie was incredibly hard to pitch, which makes sense if you think about it. 6. Taika said he couldn't think of a better screw you to Hitler than to have a Jewish guy play him. Jess, thank you so much for watching this movie. It's one of my favorites. You're reactions are always good and you almost always give me something in then that I hadn't thought about before.

Just watched your reaction to this, and like Thomas, this reminded me of the movie Downfall (Der Untergang), a German movie about the downfall of Hitler based on memoirs of his private secretary Traudl Junge. And it's told from her point of view. It's a really good movie and if you haven't seen it, I would adore to see your reaction to it. It's soooooo good. Again, thank you for all the wonderful content, I'm always glad I decided to watch.
