Like you said, I was expecting an episode of The Book of Boba Fett not the prologue to season three of The Mandalorian. It’s for that reason along with the fact that Boba was not in the episode, and neither was Fennec, except at the very end, that I’ll be honest and say that I respectfully disagree with the overwhelming opinions that I’ve been hearing that this was a lot of the fans' favorite episode thus far. For me, favorite episode thus far is still last week’s episode. Still, having said that, this episode was fantastic, and I did enjoy it. I will say that if this was in fact an episode of The Mandalorian, I would have had no complaints. Once I saw the episode, I knew that you would really love it and I was anticipating your reaction. Seeing that you were so happy to see Mando again, as well as seeing just how much you really loved the episode, really made me happy. I agree that a highlight was the insight as to where Mando is right now, emotionally speaking, and although Grogu does not make an appearance, he still very much maintains a presence through his absence. Great to see Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto again. I need a lot more details on her time dating the jawa. The scenes where Mando is flying around in his new ship were wonderful, and as you pointed out, had a very strong Phantom Menace vibe to them. Such a fantastic reaction, Jess. Thank you.

What made it make sense to me is that Mando simply showing up with the other people Boba hires would have felt incredibly underwhelming, and the crew would have been swarmed with questions about what he'd been up to before getting hired.

I agree, Mando just showing up would have been underwhelming and would have raised questions about what he’s been doing since parting ways with Grogu. Ultimately, I really don’t mind that we had a whole episode focusing primarily on Mando, I was just unprepared for it.
